Protecting the Rule of Law
The goals of our movement are in harmony with important fundamental values enshrined in the basic laws of many countries, not least the United States of America. These laws - such as the inviolability of human dignity, the right to life, freedom from bodily harm, social responsibility associated with property ownership and the prohibition of wars of aggression - are under severe threat from the current Administration.
Former Vice-President Al Gore speaking in Washington in January 2006, opened his address by saying: "...we have joined together today with thousands of our fellow citizens - Democrats and Republicans alike - to express our shared concern that America's Constitution is in grave danger." His remarks were in response to defiant claims from the White House to a truly breathtaking expansion of executive power.
Our movement is dedicated to ensuring that the fundamental values enshrined in the basic laws are comprehensively realised in practice and benefit all the people of the world and we present the following steps as a means by which these fundamental values may be preserved in the face of growing threats from the current Administration.
